I was a brakeman / conductor for a railroad. I am SO FORTUNATE I never experienced what these train crews did. Train crews “pucker the seat” multiple times a trip, every trip because of close calls like these.
Watch the first vid, and pay attention to the brown SUV. Hmmm…. maybe the warning flashers were working? Even if they weren’t the SUV driver was paying attention!
I always pause the videos for a bit to let them build up in the computers “buffer”.

Another video with sound. The locomotive engineer had “soaked it” (put the brakes in emergency), before the incident even occurred.
The most appalling aspect of this video is the interviewed person saying “there needs to be gates”. That train was not going to delay this driver, gates or no gates. Driver was not ticketed – she died four days later.
