Personal Stock Monitor Program
In addition to Yahoo! Finance, I use a program called Personal Stock Monitor (PSM) for nearly everything:
- Technical Analysis
- Paper Trading / watch lists
- Tracking stuff I have shares of
- Detailed / personalized info on companies
I use the Gold Version, which is free to play with for 30 days, $49.95 to purchase, with one year of upgrades included. Subsequent upgrades / license renewal is $29.95 per year (as of the date of this post).
PSM has partnered with an online broker which allows people using that broker to buy / sell directly from the program. A version called Personal Stock Streamer can view “real time” data from two different subscription based providers, but they are out of my budget range, and limit how many stocks can be viewed in real time. Yahoo! Market Tracker is a great, affordable, web based real time data feed.
This program is very customizable. For my needs, I have found it to be the most affordable and user friendly. Good Communication with tech support.
PSM can retrieve data from multiple data providers, including Yahoo! Finance. The company names in Yahoo! can be archaic. It is possible to change the names in PSM. I have every ETF symbol in a portfolio, and changed the name of every one. I also added a column to give a better description, which I also filled in manually.
I have loaded over 4,000 ticker symbols in PSM! This is very data intensive, and ISP might not like having this updating all the time.
View up to a 20 year chart history, if the stock has been public that long. It will view “Intraday” data also, but the program must be running the entire time the market is open to collect daily data, every day.
